2009-2010 is my seventh year of teaching after a 20 year estimating/PM/contract administration career in heavy-civil construction. I started in the field many moons ago in the residential and commercial construction industry segments. I have a bachelors degree in Construction Management from Oklahoma State University and a masters degree in Construction Administration from The University of Oklahoma. Before moving to Hattiesburg, I spent 5 years as a software trainer and consultant based out of Tempe, AZ. During that time I had the opportunity to be exposed to hundreds of estimators and project managers, as well as visit onsite over 70 contractors across the US and Canada. These experiences have resulted in my research interests of (1) Cost Engineering (see AACE International), (2) technology related to the construction lifecycle processes (BIM, Virtual Design and Construction related to estimating and project controls), and (3) the concept of 'authentic community' applied to the construction industry in decision-making, contractural relations, and organizational behavior. I have a wife, grown step children, grandchildren, 2 dogs, and a cat. In my spare time, if I ever have any, I enjoy traveling on my Triumph 2300cc Rocket III Classic motorcycle...with my wife.
